On a day when the sun's rays kiss the Valpolicella and a crisp breeze makes the sky clear, San Giorgio is surely one of the most charming places in Italy.

This small village, perched on a hill among prized vineyards and olive groves, enjoys one of the most striking views in the entire Veronese territory.

From the belvedere in the central square and from the surrounding scenic streets, there is a view that sweeps from the bustling center of Verona to the eastern Valpolicella, from the Veronese plain to the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, and all the way to Garda with its sunny shores and pretty towns.

The heart of the village, built entirely of local white limestone, is the Pieve Longobardo-Romanica, one of the oldest churches in the Verona area, around which the whole village winds, with its stone houses and narrow courtyards, the perfect setting for a traditional historical re-enactment such as the "Festa delle Fae".

Along with the wonderful Pieve, the cloister and chapter house are also not to be missed.
Next door is the Antiquarium, a small archaeological museum whose artifacts document the human presence here in Valpolicella since the Bronze Age.

Walking quietly through the village you can reach some restaurants, which will delight you with typical local menus, also quiet hotels and comfortable bed&breakfasts, from which you will always have a wonderful view with a frame of vineyards and woods.
