The village of San Giorgio di Valpolicella is famous above all for its beautiful Romanesque church and for the suggestive panorama that every corner can offer visitors.

But, right next to the church, there is another jewel of this area: a small museum, the Antiquarium, which houses some protohistoric, Roman and early medieval archaeological finds certainly worthy of a visit.

Here finds were collected that came from the area surrounding the parish and that belong to different historical periods, testifying to the continuity of frequentation of this area.

Among the most interesting findings, some Jurassic ammonites and ten Roman stelae inscribed. The first of these ten stele dates back to the first century. B.C. and it is the oldest Roman inscription in Valpolicella: it recalls the construction of a monument cared for by a building from the Pagus degli Arusnates.

Finally, do not miss the showcases that house different types of fossils and, in one, you can see the fossil fish of Monte Pastello up close.

Furthermore, an archaeological park has been set up outside the church where you can visit the excavations of a 4th century settlement. BC, which includes the remains of an inhabited area with a production area dating back to the Iron Age.
