The hamlet of Ceraino is considered one of the border places between Valpolicella and Val d'Adige, where the Adige river passes through a spectacular gorge, with very narrow loops. This stretch of territory is known as the Chiusa di Ceraino.

Thanks to the characteristics of its landscape, immersed in the mountains, Ceraino has also become home to some fortifications, dating back to the time of the Austrian rule, to defend the Brenner pass. One of these fortifications is the Forte di Ceraino, which from its elevated position dominates the entire Adige Valley. Built in 1850, it is located on a shelf of Monte Pastello, and was named after Johann Von Hlavaty, military architect author of numerous forts in Verona, hence the name Forte di Hlavaty.

Divided inside by a triangular courtyard, to the north it encloses the gunboats in a casemate while to the south is the rectangular-shaped reduced one. Valuable and harmonious are some architectural details that make it a valuable work from an artistic point of view. It was equipped with about fifteen mouths of fire that beat the Adige valley towards Dolcè and was served by a military road with a natural background, still viable that reached it starting from the inhabited area of Ceraino, and then continuing, climbing up the ridge of the mountain. , up to the strong Mollinary di Monte.

After 1866 and the passage to Italy, the fort, like the others in the area, was reversed in the shooting and then used for ammunition storage. The building is still fairly well preserved in its structures but is now in a state of neglect

Ceraino is also the starting point of the "Adige Terra dei Forti" cycle path, a well-kept path suitable for everyone.

To go along the cycle path We start from Ceraino heading north with a short descent and going along a vineyard plain with Forte Wohlgemuth on the right. On the other side, there is the Molinary Fort. The route is wedged between the Adige and the sides of Monte Pastello alongside the old route of the Brenner railway.

At Km 4.5, after a short stretch with mixed circulation, the route passes next to the Parish Church of Dolcè.

The route continues following the railway for a good stretch while the river, in its various meanders, laps the path several times creating suggestive scenarios.

At Km 8.7, with a sharp curve to the right, we pass the railway and the state road through two underpasses. You go up with a short ramp to the forest above until you reach one of the most suggestive stretches of the whole route. The track runs, undulating in the shade of the thick forest that covers the slopes of the Pastel rising from the bottom of the valley.

At Km 12, just before the town of Peri, a traffic light that can be activated on call allows you to cross the Brenner state road, beyond which we go down near the bridge to Rivalta where we deviate to the right, again parallel to the Adige.

For a short stretch the asphalt gives way to the pavement, right on the river bank, we are close to the hamlet of Ossenigo, the last village in the province of Verona. At this point, having crossed the highway twice, first with an overpass and then with an underpass, we arrive at the border with Trentino where the cycle path ends on its own. We are at Km 17.6 and continuing for just over a km on a mixed road we arrive in Borghetto where a bridge over the Adige allows us to graft onto the "historical" part of the Ciclopista del Sole.
