The church of San Martino has very ancient origins: the current construction seems to date back to the early 12th century, but some parts seem to date back to the 9th and 10th centuries, as demonstrated also by the title of the church to the warrior saint Martin of Tours, which refers to the time of the Lombards.

Probably seriously damaged by the violent destructive earthquake that hit northern Italy on January 3, 1117, the church was rebuilt in Romanesque forms, revealing close analogies with the parish church of San Floriano.

Over the centuries the building has undergone many changes and updates: the most important was certainly the construction at the end of the fifteenth century of a late-Gothic chapel dedicated to San Rocco, as a vow on the occasion of a plague epidemic.

The internal walls of the church are adorned with fine frescoes dating back to the 10th century. and others dating from the 14th century, making San Martino an important part of medieval Valpolicella painting.

Finally, the bell tower is certainly interesting: the lower part dates back to the first construction of the church, while the upper part seems to be coeval with the chapel of San Rocco.
